Thechemistryisdead - I totally agree. Way more excited about these two than La Roux/Little Boots/Florence etc. There seems a more polished punch with these two. Almost a little more unashamed pop. It's like they're not trying as hard to be cool and edgy so that somehow works better. They've moved on from the sickly 80s synth that dominates so much these days...

Saying all that, La Roux/Little Boots/Florence aint bad either. Don't want to start an anti-thread on here or anything...

I'm going to do some fence sitting as well and say that I love both although maybe I prefer Marina at the moment as obviously we've heard more songs from her and they are all terrific. I really love her lyrics. I'm pretty sure Marina said the album is being released in February which should be a good time as there should be some Sound of 2010 hype surrounding her in January.

I think both videos are really good. I'm much more excited about these two than I was about La Roux/Little Boots/Florence last year.

I luv both Ellie and Marina!
I agree, that's really difficult to choose between the two talented girls.

Robin - Talk about sitting on the fence. lol! I totally get your points though, basically they're both excellent artists.

Joey - True. 2010 will be theirs for the taking. Personally I was hoping for 10 silver spoons in Marina's video, but there you go.

Everyone else - Robin and Joey both write interesting blogs, so click through to see more of their thoughts...

Thanks guys.

Two of my absolute faves, Mike.

Couldn't possibly choose between the two. I agree with Robin that the Under The Sheets is a great representation of Ellie's personality and music. Honestly, I was hoping for a few more monkeys in Marina's video.

The combined sound of 2010 fer sher.

Hey Mike I was @ Little Boots / Ellie G - didn't realise you were there as well ? If I known I'd have kept an eye out for you. I prefer the Marina video from an aesthetic artistic point of view, but the Ellie one does its purpose of showing who she is. As for the songs I like both. Which artist do I prefer ...hmmm difficult. Again probably a score draw at the moment. Will reserve the right to change my mind once both albums are out. Who will make the biggest impact ? Hmmm again undecided. If Marina puts out Shampain or Horrorpop and Ellie puts out a new version of Starry Eyed both have a good chance of making some impact, but how big at this moment I've no idea. Are both just a little too 'out there' to appeal to the mainstream maybe ? Hmmm...well this time last year I was wondering that about La Roux and Florence !
