Is Tropical are a band whom build bridges over difficult gaps. They look like like Hoxton fashionistas, with Beyond Retro clothing and asymmetric haircuts, yet they choose to hide their faces from view when playing live, thus giving us a mixed but intriguing identity. They play music that blends indie edges and rocking thumps with tuneful pop and melodic romanticism. When seen live, you get a show of strobes and projected imagery with darkness and atmosphere.
It’s this balance of juxtapositions that has earned them a core of devoted fans that’s built up into a genuinely interested broad public. Those fans will be pleased to hear the news that breached this week about their debut album, Native To, which is being released on June 13th on the Kitsune/Co-Op record labels. Expect plenty of live dates to follow in support of it’s release, including the launch party at XOYO on June 17th, with more festival dates to follow in the summer.
