Whether you take the NME Magazine’s words on board or not, it’s always worth taking note when anybody describes a band as “A four-piece that deal with Animal Collective’s arpeggiated synths, Chillwave’s hazy guitars and Gang Gang Dance’s tribal percussion“. Suffice to say, The Recommender adores them too.
So it’s with great pleasure that we bring you news of an upcoming European tour from Braids, with as many as 13 dates in the UK. It’s the first time they’ve toured here and follows a successful batch of shows at this year’s SXSW festival. Let’s just hope that when they get to The Recommender’s home city of Brighton, that they bring that festival form to our Great Escape playground.
The Canadian quartet release their debut album, Native Speaker, on April 18th, on Kanine Records, giving you just enough time to digest it before they arrive in a town near you. On show will be a whole new spectrum of music, as they breeze between the influences, hitting parts of your brain you never knew existed. Their album is an absolute joy between the ears, so expect their expansive live show to feel just as satisfying.

good stuff Recommender, well done for sniffing this out ta
They’re pretty fantastic live. Just saw them last night with Toro Y Moi here in the states. Excellent job at translating recording work to live setting.
Just saw them live with Toro Y Moi in Philly. They were absolutely lovely. Seriously terrific live, and the crowd just ate them up.
