It’s a well known fact that music bloggers read music blogs. It’s a large chunk of the traffic on the busy blog highways. We’re a chatty, well-networked bunch you see. So last year we decided to canvass the opinions of those music bloggers by asking them to nominate their favourite blogs in a peers-only vote to see who they thought was the Best Music Blog of the year.
They responded in their hundreds. This year we’re doing it again.
There are millions of blogs out there, as varied as the waves on the ocean and just as far reaching. It’s often hard to know exactly which one to catch, so we hope this vote will act as a guiding light, then you too can discover those blogs that are truly outstanding, worthy of praise and a repeated visit.
We now declare the books OPEN!
It’s very easy – simply leave a comment on this post listing your favourite three music blogs of 2011. There are some rules that apply (read below!), so make sure you check them, then double check them, before you vote! Any votes that don’t follow the rules will not be counted (last year we had 68 incorrect votes that couldn’t be counted, so please don’t make that same mistake). If you edit, write or contribute to a music blog then what are you waiting for! Get voting!

Closing date is November 30th. We will aggregate the votes as they appear. The winners will be announced early in December. Please follow us on Twitter for updates and announcements. The winner will receive an award that they can place on their music blog and virtually polish with pride.
The results from the 2010 vote can be seen here. If you have any questions, or issues, then please let us know. Remember, this should be a fun, encouraging and positive exercise for all. A poll for the best in music blogging, by music bloggers, for music bloggers. It doesn’t get more back-scratchingly awesome than this, so VOTE VOTE VOTE…
Thanks
Mike

Not sure how you can individually decide on ‘the best’, so I’m voting for ‘my favourites’.
It’s a bit like Manchester United or Manchester City are currently the best English football teams as they are at the top of the league but my favourite is Portsmouth.
So these are my Portsmouth’s. They may not be the most high flying or well known, but over the last year overall they have for one reason or another (different for each) given me the most entertainment. They are all UK blogs because to be honest I hardly ever look at US blogs as they seem less relevant to me, my tastes and also my sense of humour.

Side note – Not wanting to ‘rock the boat’ but, fuck it. It’s dissapointing to see a couple of blogs that consistantly pirate music getting votes in this list. Namely the one that shoehorned half of the M83 album into their posts, weeks before it’s release.

THE RECOMMENDER gets to vote last. It’s been another massive year for this poll, so thanks to all those who’ve voted, chatted about it, and generally got involved in the fun.
The full results post will be up soon, so head back to hear the full details on the winners. We list our three votes below.
These are the blogs that The Recommender visits most regularly and gets loads from each time we do. There’s lots of blogs we love – hopefully you know who you are – but these three are outstanding and great for discovering new music…
1) My Band’s Better Than Your Band
2) Abeano
3) Pretty Much Amazing.
That’s it for this year folks. We will of course do it all again next November.
We have a record-breaking new winner at the top. Details up shortly.
