FUTURE GROUND

The Recommender has been seen DJ’ing late night sets at a variety of bars and venues around their local city of Brighton over recent months. Our aims have always been simple; to try and deliver the music we write about in yet another medium, bringing more and more ears in front of the emerging artists we love. We’ve spun tunes until 3am at side-street pubs, we’ve been filling the dance floors at Vice Magazine‘s monthly launch parties and now we’ve been invited to secure a couple of fixed residencies, so we wanted to share the good news with you lovely readers.

Two of Brighton’s best alternative bars, both known for their eclectic decor and their passion for delivering awesome cutting edge music, have asked us to set up a regular monthly night. Things kick off next Saturday (April 7th) at The Bees Mouth, where bar manager, Rob, will be recording the entire set because he loves our range of music so much. Following that we will be located each month at Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar in the centre of Brighton, starting on Friday 13th April. Then we will return to each venue every month thereafter.

Expect everything awesome from the blog fields, without any hint of pretentiousness, from 9pm until late. It’s about interesting music, in interesting surroundings, so if you want individual bars, perfectly designed for getting really really mullered in, and you enjoy discovering lots of new music, then Future Ground is all yours. VICE LAUNCH PARTY

The Recommender has been asked to DJ alongside some very tidy bands at the issue launch party of the next Vice Magazine. Whether you read the magazine like a bible, or you’re one of those people who consider it an outrageous piece of sensationalist journalism, all we ask is that you bring your fun buttons firmly switched on to what should be one hell of a showcase.

We’d love to suggest that you get to The Green Door Store early in order to catch our (two) DJ sets, but in fairness they had a queue stretching back to the next street the last time that Vice visited town, so we suggest you arrive early simply to get in. In fact, perhaps get queueing now.

Lastly, don’t try and design an outfit as deadly as Ruby’s, (seen in the above photograph), as she’s so effortlessly dangerous that we bet you didn’t even notice the bow tie and scissors tattooed on her collar. Look again. See!? Forget it. She wins. Perhaps just arrive on time, be yourself, and enjoy a night designed for all those who adore ultra fresh shit.
