Actually this "ME AND MY DRUMMER" song is great, this song's playback is outstanding. It's amazing. And the first lyrics of this song"you are a runner, don't kill yourself" is the inspiring line of this song. A pop is most heard by all, this song's camera effects is encouragable. The song is in English by who snubbing their native language. It's great to see this song.

Another HAIM mention! This is getting a little worrying. Gutted I missed them. I shoulda made the extra effort after Derek's tip!

I'll update the post to make sure Brapscallions is also listed on there, so thanks for reminding me.

Thanks
Mike

Thanks Iestyn. Totally agree. City festivals should not feel this atmospheric and magical, but somehow the Great Escape team make it very awesome indeed.

I'm starting to feel a little concerned that I missed HAIM now, as so many folks are mentioning their sets.

However, no matter how many exceptional sets I manage to miss, and it's impossible to get to them all as you correctly point out, I still feel entirely satisfied and full up with unique and memorable experiences.

Regards
Mike

That Yacht thing - I've had it officially confirmed by the Guinness Book of World Records and the ghost of Norris McWhirter (one for your older readers), that they ARE the Best Band In The World. Their recorded material does them little justice, even though it's more than half decent.

Random reflections of Great Escape 2012? Magnificent organisation, great atmosphere, brilliant mix of bands. If this had happened in 1992 it would have been nothing like as vividly entertaining. I'd like to add Redinho to the list of highlights - another one-man-and-his-mac set up, but with a fantastic feel for the music and a signature vocal style that's well worth seeing in the flesh.

A few additional comments from a first-time punter. You do have to realise pretty early on that you're likely to see some good bands in rubbish venues, see some not-so-good bands in good venues and then miss out completely on seeing bands on your must-see list. It was lockout for Alabama Shakes, Django Django (twice) and Friends; and while we saw Chet Faker, HAIM and St Lucia on a great bill at Psychosocial Basement, the venue and the PA really didn't really do the bands justice.

Hats off to Digital for providing immaculate sound and The Warren for being the complete package - including a lovely garden where you felt like you were at a village fete. A few more hidden gems like this and Great Escape 2013 will be even better.
